Dubai International Academy (DIA) Emirates Hills hosted the first-ever Junior DIAMUN conference today. As many as 105 student delegates representing 60+ nationalities and five Innoventures Education schools participated in this Model United Nations (MUN) Conference with the theme “Innovating towards a sustainable future”.

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an educational model of the United Nations used for simulations in which students learn about diplomacy and international relations.

Junior DIAMUN is inspired by the 16-year long legacy of DIAMUN for senior students, now tailored for primary school students. The focus is to engage primary school delegates in proposing solutions for global issues, through debating and writing, while promoting skills in public speaking, research, critical thinking, and self-management. Delegates collaborated, negotiated, and understood global issues through multiple perspectives.

Delegates from all five schools operated by Innoventures Education – DIA Emirates Hills, DIA Al Barsha, Raffles International School, Raffles World Academy and Collegiate International School – represented different countries as UN delegates. They participated in committees to debate topics such as the gender disparity, disaster preparedness and climate change.

Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our students for successfully organising the first-ever Junior DIAMUN conference. Their enthusiasm for global issues and willingness to step into the shoes of diplomats is inspiring. This was a fantastic opportunity for young students to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills, while fostering global citizenship. We’re excited to see this event become a cherished tradition and a much-anticipated date on our annual calendar just like DIAMUN.”
