Jubail Island Investment Company (JIIC) has teamed up with Spaces Investment & Real Estate Development and Gordonstoun to announce a new school on Jubail Island in Abu Dhabi.
Gordonstoun School, based in Scotland, will extend its respected name and teaching methods to this new school in Abu Dhabi. Leaders from JIIC, Spaces, and Gordonstoun in Scotland finalised this significant agreement.
Students can look forward to joining this prestigious institution in September 2026. The curriculum will focus on leadership, teamwork, and community service while incorporating the UAE’s rich culture and traditions.
Mounir Haidar, Managing Director of JIIC, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting that it will enhance Jubail Island’s reputation as a premier educational destination.
The new school will operate under the Gordonstoun name, drawing from its renowned character-focused education. This partnership further cements Abu Dhabi’s status as a leading educational hub.
Fahad AlBlooshi, Chairman of Spaces, underscored the alignment of Gordonstoun’s values with those of the UAE, emphasising qualities like resilience, honesty, and diligence.
For context, Gordonstoun is a prominent independent school in Scotland, serving students aged 4-18 for over 80 years. It’s known for its unique character education approach and is the founding institution of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
David White, from Gordonstoun, conveyed the institution’s eagerness to expand its educational model to the UAE. He highlighted the mutual benefits, noting that the proceeds support their bursary program in Scotland.
